With our $1000 grant we purchased about 50 books by diverse authors and/or featuring diverse people. There were both fiction and non-fiction selections included. They have been a fantastic addition to our collection here at Hiawatha! The books about athletes have been especially popular, as well as the dozen or so Little People, Big Dreams biographies. That biography series really lit up our students’ interest in the biography genre as a whole and they were popular enough that I purchased a display just for them so they’d be easily located on the shelves. Hiawatha is thankful for OEF’s investment in our library!
