2018 Commitment to Excellence Award Recipient
Martha Hentz relocated to Okemos in 2008 along with her husband, Chris, and their two sons, Evan and Phill. She has enjoyed working on various volunteer projects in the district, including the Hiawatha Science Fair and the Okemos Music Patrons Spaghetti Dinner, has served on the PTO boards of both Hiawatha and Kinawa, and served four years on the Okemos District Parent Council. Martha joined the OEF Board in 2013 and served as Board Chair from 2014-2018. She continues to advocate for public school funding through her role as Coordinator of the Michigan Education Foundation, a network of Michigan K-12 public school foundations.
Martha received an undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. She is grateful to her family for their support of her many volunteer projects and to the faculty, staff, and administrative team of the Okemos Public Schools for providing an exceptional education to all Okemos students, including her two sons who are now OHS students.
