Special Projects 2022-23

Solar Cars

The students work all year to build their car and race in Texas. This past year the race went exceptionally well as they took home the 1st and 3rd race day trophies (which meant that they had driven the most solar car miles on those two days in their division).

They would like to thank each and every one of their sponsors, including the OEF, as well as community members who made this year’s victory possible and provided them with an unforgettable and valuable experience.

Meet the Woof Pack

In January of 2022, CeCe started attending Okemos High school. The students loved CeCe, after all who wouldn’t love a dog visiting them daily! Later that same year in August, Willow and Chip came to the Okemos schools, Willow, partnering with CeCe at the high school, and Chip going to Chippewa. Thus began the Woof Pack.

In January of 2023 Phoebe joined the pack making Kinawa her home. Bolt and Charlie, both 5 months olds, will join the pack this year at Bennett and Hiawatha. Cornell, Okemos Montessori and Edgewood will get their puppies next year.

The Okemos Woof Pack has been quite active recently, engaging in various community events and initiatives. They visited Mason High School and Michigan State, as well as taking part in the Secure Our Schools program and the Okemos High School Homecoming Parade. The funds donated by the Okemos Education Foundation (OEF) have played a crucial role in supporting these activities. The funds have been used to cover essential expenses, such as vet bills, trading cards, dog treats, and other necessary supplies.

Thanks to the OEF’s generosity, the Woof Pack has been able to continue its mission of bringing comfort and joy to various events and locations in the community, while also ensuring the well-being of their furry companions.
