2008 Commitment to Excellence Banquet Inspires!

The 2008 OEF Commitment to Excellence Banquet was held on Thursday Nov. 20, 2008 at the Kellogg Center, MSU.

OEF Commitment to Excellence, Special Recognition, Alumni, and Dan C. Wertz Founders' Award recipients and nominees (see following article for details) were honored for their contributions to the Okemos Public School community by over 270 people in attendance. This inspirational event showcased the dedication and heart-felt effort of the educators and staff who form the foundation of excellence in Okemos Public Schools.

The awards ceremony was filmed and will be rebroadcast on the Okemos Channel on a future date, and recipient bio information will be posted on the website soon.

The OEF wishes to thank DELTA DENTAL of Michigan for sponsoring this event.

A special thanks to Mark Bashore for serving as the Master of Ceremonies, Jim and Barbara Schmidt from Hyacinth House for providing lovely floral designs, the Okemos High School's "The Presto String Quartet" for performing lovely music during the social hour, Lifetouch National School Studios for photographing the evening, Matt Ottinger and the gifted crew from the Okemos Channel for filming the award ceremony, and the Someko singers for their "surprise" performance in honor of Frank DeWald!

A sincere thank you also to the banquet Chair, Cindy LeVine, for her attention to detail and continued devotion to the Okemos school community.

Thank you to everyone who bought and sold tickets to support the Okemos Education Foundation!

Congratulations to the 2008 Commitment to Excellence Award Recipients and Nominees!

The annual OEF Commitment to Excellence Awards Banquet is scheduled for Thursday, November 20, at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing.

Each year students, parents, community members, administrators, and/or colleagues support the nomination of outstanding individuals within the Okemos community for five prestigious awards.

Based on what is always an extraordinary array of nomination packets presented, the OEF has the unenviable task of selecting a discrete number of award recipients.

Award recipients receive a commemorative plaque, but all nominees are recognized at the awards banquet.
