Awards
The OEF's mission is in part to recognize the excellence that exists within Okemos Public Schools. Each fall we host an inspiring event, the Awards Banquet, where we recognize those who have made significant contributions to our school community. The OEF bestows the following awards at this event:
- The OEF Commitment to Excellence Award (6 awards given)
- The OEF Special Recognition Award
- The OEF Alumni Award
- The OEF Volunteer Service Award (NEW for 2009!)
- The OEF Dan C. Wertz Founder's Award
• Inspire and motivate students
• Promote the welfare of students
• Implement innovative and/or creative ideas
• Provide leadership within the school community
The Special Recognition Award honors support staff employed by the district who embody a commitment to excellence and have a significant positive impact on students, staff and/or the school community. Individuals who are ineligible for the Commitment to Excellence Award may be nominated.
The Volunteer Service Award (new for 2009) honors individuals who have a significant positive impact on students, staff, and/or the school community through their extraordinary volunteer service.
The Alumni Award honors an alumnus of Okemos Public Schools who demonstrates exceptional dedication and achievement as well as humanitarian contributions.
The Dan C. Wertz Founder's Award is presented to an individual or business that has demonstrated a commitment to quality in education through its generous financial support of the Okemos Education Foundation.
