2006 Dan C. Wertz Founder's Award Recipient, Jay Smith and Peggy Smith

Jay and Peggy Smith are both graduates of CMU. Peggy earned her B.S. in Education, and then taught for seven years before deciding to stay home with three children, who are all students of Okemos Public Schools. Peggy has served on several boards, including St. Martha CCW and Lansing Figure Skating Club, and also many school committees and booster groups. She is currently finishing a master's degree in K-12 literacy.

Jay earned his B.S. in Industrial Management and Supervision and has been employed by The Christman Company for 22 years, where he is the senior vice president in charge of construction operations and a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. He is affiliated with Associated General Contractors (AGC), a past Board member of Highfields, Inc., and a Lansing Rotarian.

Jay and Peggy have lived in Okemos for 20 years and are founding members of St. Martha's Parish.
