2018 Commitment to Excellence Award Recipient

I started my career in education at Ingham ISD Thorburn Center in 1977. I came to Okemos PS in 1989 and have been here every since. My first position was at Cornell working with Marge Clay. Later I transferred to Chippewa to work with Tom Tweedy and now I work at Kinawa with Steve Stierley. I am entering my 41st year in education.

“I absolutely adore children and wanted to be in an environment that allowed me to have an impact on “teaching” kids. I am not a teacher but I love my role in the Principal’s office which enables me to put on my “mom hat” and help kids who are struggling or just need a listening ear.

I live in Dansville and have two kids, Todd who lives in Spring Lake, MI with his wife and two kids, Jace (8) and Reed (5). My daughter Lindsay is an Assistant Coach for the women’s basketball program at Campbell University in North Carolina after playing 4 years at MSU and then professionally and overseas. My husband and I have been married for 41 years and he has been retired for 8 years. We have lived in our house, tucked in the woods, for 41 years where I love working in my perennial gardens!

Being a part of the Okemos PS has been an absolute gift and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work in a community and district that values education and the well being of children. I am so proud to say that I have been with Okemos PS for 29 of my 41 year career.
