Ashley Andersen

2015 Commitment to Excellence Award Recipient

Ashley Andersen began her teaching career with Okemos Schools as a student teacher 6 years ago at Bennett Woods Elementary. She then taught Kindergarten for a year outside the district and has since spent the last 4 years in Okemos teaching 2nd grade at Cornell Elementary. In addition to creating a classroom where all students share Ashley’s passion for learning, she enjoys being an active participant in programs and committees outside of the classroom. Ashley co-leads the “Chieftain Champs” mentoring program at Cornell and is dedicated to the district’s Elementary Math Committee. Ashley truly loves getting to know each of her students and their families as they learn, grow and have fun together!

 

Ashley graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a focus on early childhood development, literacy and geography from Michigan State University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum from MSU. In her free time Ashley enjoys spending time with family and friends and dreaming about traveling the world.
