2018 Commitment to Excellence Award Recipient

Ashley Abrams comes from a family background that has a history in mental health work. He became interested in helping others at a young age and decided to explore that as a profession during his Freshman year in college. His work in the school system as a clinician began out of graduate school in the Detroit Public schools at the high school level. After that he moved back to the area and was an in home behavioral therapist in the Lansing area as well as working in Okemos public schools for the past 8 years. Ashley feels as if he’s been blessed to be able to work with the teenage population as well as an amazing faculty and staff at Okemos. From coaching basketball to helping youth through volunteer work, he has always been passionate about helping young people. Ashley spent his undergraduate years at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama and finished his graduate degree work at Wayne State University.

 

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, attending sporting events, playing golf, working out, and traveling nationally to places of interest.
